I have for a while had this model in my collection, but only now noticed that the real aircraft actually carries a name, Air Marshal Skripko.
As i am thinking of adding the name to my model i need to find some clear photos of it. And, well, this is one of the better shots at Airliners.net. And Herpa's image of their 1:400 scale model isn't much better. Does anyone know where i can look?
I try to keep them realistic to the era that i am modelling, so to have this aircraft in a post-2003 diorama without titles wouldn't be correct. But then again, having An-124 10 Black on the layout isn't very realistic either.
I have already, within an hour of posting at W900, got help with the decals needed. I just have to print them on my own and see what happens. I've never done that before.
Hi Oscar, I remember this bird very well! When I used to be the Ulyanovsk's Flight Academy's cadet, we passed a military training course in the Ivanovo's Military Airlift Combat Training Center as an Il-76's co-pilots, and we had wash her almost every week till she had been shiny like a cat's bollocks while she was the present unit's flagship those days. And if I am not mistaken, Herpa gonna issue her in 1/200 soon. You have a great model anyway, congratulations!
Hi Andrew. Sounds like an interesting time. I'd love to have the chance to sit in the right hand seat in an Il-76. I am not so sure about the washing part though, but i know it's part of the "package."
I just have one question. Did you really mean to write "like a cat's bollocks"? I have never heard anyone compare anything to that before.
Thanks my friend. I hope to get the decals printed and attached soon.
