Tu-134 with PS-90 engines: possible or not?

Yesterday evening i had a, to me, interesting idea. To keep the Tu-134 design flying longer, would it be possible to equip the airframe with PS-90 engines? Even if it's possible, would it be profitable, or just a waste of money?

I would very much like to see this become reality, but sadly i don't think that's going to happen. Atleast not any time soon.

Oscar, I think it would be more feasible to put GE90 engine on DC-3 - in such a case just one engine per plane would be enough. :)

alrosa: That does sound like a better idea. As i was pretty tired when the thought struck me i didn't really think about the engines power.

I suppose ПС-90 engines can not be installed on Tu-134 due to weight & balance, "G"-coefficient (center gravity) and aerodynamics (different engine size and summary geometry). The cost of remotorization with corresponding A/C systems redesign will kill all practical benefits.

The single engine installation (from B777 in push or pull positioning) for mentioned A/C is more funny :)
The fuselage in the middle as a spinner :)

Oscar, seriously: the number of airworthy Tu-134 frames is rapidly decreasing, the cost of 2 new PS-90s will be more, than the value of Tu-134 airframe, plus re-motorization cost, plus the obvious fact PS-90 is too powerful for Tu-134 = this is just a theoretical dream having zero economical feasibility.

There were traditional holywars in all Russian aviation forums some years ago: "Would it be possible to put 2 modern engines on Tu-154 and Il-86 instead of current 3 and 4, and to bring those planes back to the skies?" Technically - theoretically possible, but economically - definitely no.
